Pi’ikea and Reed

Pi’ikea and Reed came to us after they booked one of our favorite hidden gem venues– Waimea Valley! After our first call, they quickly decided they wanted to work with us for our Full Shebang package and Floral Design and we were excited to jump in right away. They wanted their wedding to uniquely Hawaiian and this venue was perfect for that!

Over the course of planning, we had many fun zoom calls that felt more like virtual friend dates than work calls. Part way through the planning, we planned a trip to the venue for a tasting and a site tour. We had such a blast brainstorming the perfect local inspired menu and coming up with the perfect ways to highlight the beauty of their unique venue, Palm Meadow at Waimea Valley.

As the wedding got closer we honed in on the couple’s vision for the overall aesthetic and came up with a beautify unique and chic look with a understate tropical vibe.

One of the strong themes of Pi’ikea and Reed’s wedding was to include several personal touches to honor their family. Pi’ikea had the most amazing jewelry and shell lei passed down to her for her wedding day, had her uncle MC, and they even dedicated the bar to her grandpa “Dodgie”! The cocktail napkins with fun facts about both of their grandparents were a huge hit too!

A detail in particular that we loved was the guest book they chose. They opted to have their guests sign a Makau hook. It is a symbol of strength, prosperity, abundance, and good fortune. According to Hawaiian legend, the demigod Maui went fishing with his brothers and caught the bottom of the ocean floor with his magical hook Makau. He pulled up on the hook and created the Hawaiian islands. It turned out to be a beautiful and meaningful keepsake for their home.

Following a beautiful family style dinner in a candle lit tent, another unique touch the couple incorporated to their celebration was their twist on a champagne tower– an espresso martini tower.

After several heartfelt toasts and dances (including with the grandparents - of course), guest hit the dancefloor in light-up leis to dance the night away.
