grace and edwin
This fun loving couple reached out to us about 1 year before their wedding date to advise them throughout the planning process and to coordinate everything one month-of out. When we first began working together, they made it clear that although they were excited about all aspects of their wedding, there were especially excited about good food and drink as well as beautiful flowers and decor. It was easy to advise them as those are our favorite parts of a wedding too!
Throughout the planning process, we had the pleasure of meeting them multiple times when they visited the island for planning trips. We were also pleasantly surprised when we learned that by complete coincidence, they were friends with another couple we were working with. They even attended that wedding in the summer prior to their wedding. It was a great opportunity to get to know them better.
Not only did they hire us for our Maid of Honor for Hire service, but they booked us for floral design too! The bride wanted a fusion of tropical meets elegant and modern. We landed on using stunning rust colored cymbidium orchids paired with garden and classic roses in soft cream, blush and mauve along with monstera leaves. We love how the flowers popped against the neutral minimalist aesthetic of rest of the event design.
On the wedding day, there were several highlights. First of all we LOVED that the ceremony site was such a stunning focal point with the ocean backdrop and the lush altar arrangement we designed. We also love how the bride and groom chose to honored their parents by giving them a traditional Hawaiian lei in the ceremony.
For the cocktail hour, the couple designed a custom menu named after their dog, "Baby." It featured fun signature drinks chosen by the bride and groom which they named "Eddie's Penicillin" and "GPK's Lilikoi Marg." While the couple took photos the guests enjoyed tray passed appetizers of kalua pig sliders, mini poke bowls and mini crab cakes with cilantro ginger aioli.
At the beginning of the reception, the wedding party did a great job of getting the party started with their energetic grand entrance moves and the couple kicked off the dance floor with a beautifully choreographed dance. During sunset, the couple slipped away for sunset photos while the guests dined under a canopy of twinkle lights. Once they returned, great speeches were given by their wedding party, but in particular the co-best man killed it with his rendition of Grace and Edwin's courting. The evening officially kicked off when the couple danced their first dance which was highlighted with fountain sparklers. For the rest of the night guests danced, enjoyed ice cream sundaes in place of a traditional cake and socialized around the bar.
Overall, the wedding was a blast and everyone left happy!
