Can I just start by saying, there is nothing sweeter than a groom who takes the lead on wedding planning! In this particular case, the bride had a very busy work schedule and when it came time to work out all the final details, she just didn’t have the time. Lucky for her (and our team), her finance was a champ and jumped into action. He was organized, thoughtful and made sure that his fiance’s design aesthetic was taken into consideration with all the final choices.
The wedding took place on a beautiful December day. Although there is a slightly higher risk of rain, December is one of the most comfortable times of year to get married in Hawaii. On this particular day, we were blessed with a few short rain showers, but ended up with clear skies for the duration of the ceremony and reception. Instead of a first look, the couple opted for a first touch. It is an often overlooked alternative and it made for the sweetest moment. The ceremony was performed by a dear friend of the groom. He created a completely personalized and custom ceremony for them that made it extra special.
Once the ceremony was finished, the real fun began! Guests enjoyed taking poloriod photos to add to the interactive guestbook, sipping drinks from the “UP” movie themed bar, and nibbling on tasty island inspired appetizers. For dinner, guests enjoyed a mix of Hawaiian and the couple’s favorite Filipino food. In addition to the traditional cake cutting, they also chose to cut the lechon (whole roast pig). Dinner wrapped up with several heartfelt speeches from close family and friends. Of all the beautiful memories from this day, my all time favorite was the money dance. Traditionally guests line up to pin money to the bride and groom’s attire. Since the wedding was taking place in a fairly rural location (no ATMs for miles), the best man thoughtfully created a Venmo QR code for the guests to utilize instead. It was super clever and gave everyone a good laugh.
